Etsy fees stack up faster than the percentage suggests.

A single Etsy sale can carry four or five separate fee lines: listing, transaction, payment processing, and sometimes Offsite Ads. Each is individually small, but they compound, and sellers who quote only the transaction fee underestimate total cost by a wide margin.

Listing fees are per item, not per sale

A flat per-listing fee applies when you list or renew an item, and again for each additional quantity sold from a multi-quantity listing, independent of whether or when it sells. High-SKU, low-volume shops should watch this line closely.

Transaction and payment fees are both percentage-based

The transaction fee applies to the total sale price including shipping. Payment processing is a separate percentage-plus-fixed fee, similar to a card processor, on the same order total. These are two distinct lines, not one combined rate.

Offsite Ads fees are conditional

If a sale is driven by Etsy's Offsite Ads program, a percentage fee applies to that order — mandatory for shops over a revenue threshold in their first 12 months on the program, optional after. It only applies to orders attributed to that channel, not every sale.

Model true per-order profit, not just 'Etsy's cut'

Add product cost, your own shipping and packaging on top of Etsy's fees to see real profit per order, not just the platform's take. A listing with a healthy-looking price can still lose money once every fee line and fulfillment cost is included.
